Test.com Support for Languages Other Than English
The test.com application has been ported to many common global languages for test taking. Users can select their country (and language) and take tests and other content using these county, language, and local settings. Test.com even supports the charging of purchased content in local currencies.
However, the management of a private test.com website is currently supported in a mixed language environment with US English set as the primary language. When signed in as a Superuser with default language set other than English, on many of the management screens – information will be displayed in a combination of English and the native language the Superuser is set to.
Human and Mechanized Translation
Test.com is primary authored in US English. The porting of test.com in languages other than English is done using computer automated mechanized translation services AND human translators.
Test.com includes features that automatically translate your content like tests (and test questions), from one language to another. These features utilize a variety automated computer mechanized translation engines. It should be recognized these automated computer mechanized translation engines are reasonably proficient. However, is it HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you have a human translator review any automated transaction to assure the content was translated properly.
Notes about Identical Tests offered in Multiple Languages
Test.com provides a duplicate feature that lets you take a test you might author in English and duplicate/translate it into another language such as Spanish.
If you wish to have only users whose default language is set to English only have access the English tests and those users set to Spanish only have access the Spanish test, then you will need to utilize the test.com User Group security features to separate your users/test into User Groups you’ll need to create for the English and Spanish. More information about User Groups can be found under the Manage – Settings menu.
